![]() The Steam Train is the last remaining continually operated steam train in Africa. The train departs from the Outeniqua Railway museum in George, which is filled to the brim with interesting locomotives, cars and other forms of transport and it is recommended that you arrive early so you have plenty of time to explore before boarding. ![]() ![]() The train used to run from George along the coast and end in Knysna, however due to very bad storms and mudslides in 2006 the route had to be revised. Sit back, relax and gaze out at the magnificent scenery as the beautiful steam train chugs along at a steady pace. We regret to inform you that the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe is currently not running.Ī journey on the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe takes visitors through over bridges and through tunnels across scenic lush green farmlands, for 52 kilometres from George to Mossel Bay.
